Homework (See the course schedule for due dates)

  1. Typeset assignment 1. Start with this file: assign1_start.tex

    You will need to read the "AMS Short Math Guide" to see how to use commands like \lim, \rightarrow, \frac{}{}, \int, \displaystyle, \limits, \left[...\right], \sum, \pm, \vert \begin{pmatrix}...\end{pmatrix}, \cdots, \vdots, \ddots, \overline{}, \sqrt[n]{}, \begin{cases}...\end{cases}, \text{}, etc.

  2. Typeset: Math 2250 Exam 3
    • Start with this file: exam3.tex
    • You will also need this image file: mass-spring-dashpot.png
    • Follow all directions in the LaTeX starter file!
    • Note, that in order to get the image and equation in question 6 side-by-side you will need to use two "minipage" environments. I show how to do this in the starter file! See the "Not So Short Introduction to LaTeX2e" to learn about minipages.
  3. Exercises 1.1 & 1.2 from the lecture notes.
    • hw3.pdf, hw3.tex
    • The following rules apply to this and all future assignments:
      1. If you don't have time to typeset your homework in LaTeX, turn in a handwritten assignment, and you can still earn up to 90% of the points.
      2. You do not need to do any fancy formatting in your LaTeX code! The most important thing is the correctness of your solution, not the presentation!
      3. Be sure to change the text "YOUR NAME HERE" to your name in the starter file!
  4. Exercises 1.3 -- 1.14 from the lecture notes.
    • hw4.pdf, hw4.tex
    • Be sure to use the cycle macro I defined in the preamble.
  5. Exercises 1.15 -- 1.17 from the lecture notes.
