MATH TEACHERS' CIRCLE

Math Teachers' Circle will be held the first Thursday of most months, alternating between Westlake HS and Taylorsville HS from 4-6pm. Any and all math teachers, as well as any other interested parties are encouraged to attend.

What is a Math Teachers' Circle?

It is like a book club for math. We first start with a delicious meal while informally socializing. After about half an hour we jump in and work on an interesting math problem in small groups. After about an hour of productive struggle, we come together and share our solution strategies and discuss implications of using this type of approach in our math classes and other pedagogical issues.

Math Teachers' Circles are fun and invigorating. You work with quality people. You discuss interesting ideas. It is free and you get free food. And you will be done in time to spend the evening with your family.

Give it a try! After the first meeting, you can decide if it is for you.  And you might even want to recruit others to come.

For more information, or just to let me know you are coming so I can plan for food, contact me, Troy Jones: tjones@alpinedistrict.org
