Venue and Lodging

  • The conference will be held on the campus of University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
  • We recommend to stay in the University of Utah Guest House. We have reserved a block of rooms at the reduced nightly rate of $105.00+tax per night. The guest house is within easy walking distance of the conference meeting rooms, and a shuttle service is also available.The location information and transportation  directions are here.

Transportation:
Visa for foreign participants
Generally, citizens of foreign counties wishing to enter the United States must first obtain a visa. For information about visitor visas for business and pleasure to the U.S., please see the following web site: http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1262.html#overview.  The invitation letter from the conference organizing committee may be submitted with other information required to obtain a Business (B-1) visa.

Local Information

slc Salt Lake City  is the center of the Intermountain West of the USA and the capital of Utah. It hosts the University of Utah, several theaters, Utah Opera, Utah Symphony, Natural History museum of Utah, The Leonardo Science and Technology museum, art galleries,  Salt Lake City Public Library designed by Moshe Safdie, Red Butte botanic garden, concert halls, Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and many other attractions. For young people, there are climbing gyms, Clark Planetarium with IMAX, the Children' Museum of Utah,  Hogle Zoo, and other attractions.

Utah is known for its outstanding natural beauty. We have five national parks: Bryce Canyon NP, Canyonland NP, Capitol Reef NP, Arches NP, and Zion NP. Also, Utah has the Dinosaur National Monument with hundreds of dinosaur skeletons, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Monument Valley seen in many westerns, many State Parks and scenic byways.  Utah historical landmarks are related to the Ancient Pueblo People (Anasazi), Navajo Nation, Pioneers, the Pony Express, the Golden Spike (first transcontinental railroad), mining ghost towns, and outlaws of the Wild West. Utah Shakespeare festival in Cedar City performs modern pieces and and classics.


The participants from  far away places are encouraged to rent a car and explore the grandeur and beauty of Southern Utah during this visit (after-conference excursion trips will be offered by local tourist guides). If you want to share a car and travel memories with other participants, let us know and we will connect you. And if you really like to drive, you may consider a 6 hour drive South to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, or 7 hour drive North to the Tetons and Yellowstone, or 10 hour drive West to Yosemite and 14 hour drive to San Fransisco. As you see, Salt Lake City is a singular urban point in in a huge beautiful wilderness.
