Problems:

• Exercise set 1.4 (pp. 25-26): #1, 8, 9
• Exercise set 1.5 (pp. 31-32): #2, 9
• Exercise set 2.1 (p. 38): 3, 7.

Week 1. (Due Tuesday May 23rd | Solutions)
Read Sections 1.1-1.3 carefully. Make sure that you know the definitions. [Remember that reading mathematics is done with pen and paper; it is not a passive exercise.]

Problems:

• Exercise set 1.1 (pp. 7-8): #2, 4, 5, 13
• Exercise set 1.2. (pp. 14-15). Read the first 2 lines of the exercise set first. Then attempt the following: #2, 14, 17
• Exercise set 1.3. (pp. 20-21): 8, 9, 10, 11.
