Math Biology Seminar

Mathematical Physiology Research Group

The goal of our research is to better understand the fundamental processes that enable an organism, be it a human or a bacterium, to live and reproduce. We use mathematical modeling, analysis, and computational simulation to explore a variety of physiological processes, including cardiac action potential dynamics, calcium handling, and the construction, regulation, and function of various organelles. The research group, led by Jim Keener, consists of graduate students, postdocs, and faculty in the math department, and works in collaboration with several experimentalists at the University of Utah. Our work is supported by grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.
