It is necessary for middle school teachers to possess a deep understanding of mathematics taught in elementary and middle school. This course focuses on a conceptual framework for mathematics, particularly number system from a mature perspective which leads to development of number sense, operations and understanding of algebraic structures. Brief foray into algebra is made in order to understand how this material is applied to seamless transition from elementary to middle school mathematics.

Level 3 and 4 teachers will be paid $200 for successful completion of the course. This course fulfills the Mathematics for Elementary Teachers I requirement for the Level 2 endorsement.
