When: Saturday, April 22, 2000
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Where: JWB (John Widtsoe Building)
A campus-wide contest for all undergraduate
students at the University of Utah,
the Calculus Challenge offers
tough problems, the chance to show your
stuff, and prizes up to $300. Necessary
background is first year calculus up
to roughly the middle of the second
semester. Expect anything from
intricate integrals and maddening
min-max problems to way-out word
problems.
Everyone participating in the Calculus Challenge is invited to stay for lunch and a discussion of the solutions. Both are
free, and lunch begins at noon. Prizes will be awarded at the
Department of Mathematics Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 27 at
3:00 p.m. (JWB 335).
Interested students are invited to sign up
in advance. You may send e-mail
to Angie Gardiner (gardiner@math.utah.edu),
or sign up in person at the Mathematics Department
Office. You may also sign up just before the
exam (please come ten minutes early).
