Text: Linear Algebra and Its Applications, By David C. Lay,
5th
edition
Prerequisites:
Prerequisites: "C" or better in ((MATH 2210 OR MATH 1260 OR MATH 1320 OR
MATH 1321) OR (MATH 1220 AND Full Major status in Computer Science OR
Computer Engineering)).
Goals and objectives:
Euclidean space, linear systems, Gaussian elimination, determinants,
inverses, vector spaces, linear transformations, quadratic forms, least
squares and linear programming, eigenvalues and eigenvectors,
diagonalization. Includes theoretical and computer lab components.
Homework: There will be weekly WeBWorK assignments.
Students may discuss the problems with others.
Grading:
The course grade will be based on WeBWorK, three midterm exams, and
the final exam.
The exams are closed-book, with no calculators; there are no make-up
exams.
Last day to withdraw from classes: Friday, March 6.
