We will meet MTWF 9:40 - 10:30 a.m. We will not meet in the classroom which was originally assigned (Union 323). Rather, we meet as follows:   MWF:   NS 204     T:   WBB 617.

I teach another class immediately before this one, so I will do my best to be prompt, but will be unavailable just before class. I will be available for a few minutes after class (in addition to my office hours).

There is an informal and optional problem session every Thursday (starting week 1!), also from 9:40-10:30 in LCB 225.

I plan to have office hours after class, MTWF 10:45-11:30. If you need to see me and can't attend office hours, please ask for an appointment. My office is LCB 204, and my phone number is 581-7318.

2280 syllabus.pdf  contains detailed course information.

Class lecture notes will be in this directory. My plan is to have these lecture notes posted the day before class, by 4:00 p.m. These notes will contain text, comments, maple output, diagrams, and other information which will be helpful for class. They will save you from having to write material which is better just to look at. There will also be open space, where we will work out various concepts and examples together. It will be up to you to download these notes and bring them to class. Usually most people find this method of going through new material helpful, but of course it is up to you whether or not to adopt my recommendation.

The homework page  will contain assignments (and solutions, after you hand them in).
The Maple page  contains class information/projects related to the mathematical software Maple.
The exam page   will contain review material, practice exams, actual exams and solutions.

2280spring06  is my directory from the last time I taught this course, in spring 2006. You can get a good idea of how I plan to teach the current class by looking at that page and its links.
