Pan-American Advanced Studies Institute workshop Commutative Algebra and its Interactions with Algebraic Geometry, Representation Theory, and Physics, Guanajuato, Mexico, May 14 – 25, 2012.

Bernd Sturmfels is teaching a Graduate Course on Combinatorial Commutative Algebra at UC Berkeley in Fall; MSRI postdocs and predocs are welcome to participate. Classes meet MWF 10:00 – 11:00, 740 Evans Hall, starting Friday, August 24.

Dylan Thurston will teach the Chancellor's Professor course at UC Berkeley this Fall: The Geometry and Algebra of Curves on Surfaces, Tuesday and Thursday, 11:00 – 12:30,
in 121 Latimer. Classes begin Thursday, August 30.

The Berkeley RTG on Representation Theory, Geometry, and Combinatorics will host a workshop Tensors and their Geometry in High Dimensions, September 26 – 29, 2012. This includes mini-courses by Andrew Snowden, Jan Draisma, and Giorgio Ottaviani.

David Eisenbud's Seminar meets on Tuesday, 3:45 – 6:00, 939 Evans Hall.

The MSRI-Evans lecture takes place bi-monthly, Monday 4:00 – 5:00, 60 Evans Hall.
