Announcements:
-
(12/19) The grades are posted at CIS. For instructions to access your official grades, please see registrar's page.
- (11/10) Handout #5 on The Method of Characteristics and Wave equations.
- (11/1) Miterm 3 is scheduled on 11/10 (next Wednesday).
- (10/29) A second student, who actually attends the lectures most of the time, was tested positive for Covid. I cannot stress enough the importance of vaccination and mask-wearing in protecting yourself as well as people around you.
- (10/25) Handout #4 on Fourier transform. (8 pages are removed from a complete version.) [Several typographical errors will be pointed out in class.]
- (10/20) Second miterm exams and (sketch of) solutions will be distributed on Friday 10/22.
- (10/7) A derivation of formulas for Fourier coefficients when L= pi.
- (9/29) The Sturm-Liouville Theory (handout 3).
- (9/27) The second MT exam will take place Friday (10/6)!
- (9/3) Next Wednesday is the first midterm exam.
- (9/3) HW will be submitted from Canvas from HW 2 and on. You will be required to upload a PDF. You can write your solutions on paper and scanning your written homework with the (free) app “Genius scan” for Android or the (free) app “Scannable” for iOS devices, OR you can write on your tablet and save it as a PDF. However, you are free to use any device and any program to capture your solutions and upload them. You can and will be docked points for illegibility.
- (8/23) Supplemental material for Introduction to PDE (handout 1) and review ODE (handout 2).
- (8/10) [Covid-19 info] University leadership has urged all faculty, students, and staff to model the vaccination, testing, and masking behaviors we want to see in our campus community. These include:
- Vaccination
- Masking indoors
- If unvaccinated, getting weekly asymptomatic coronavirus testing
- (8/1) Due to covid-19, I strongly encourage, but do not enforce, mask-wearing during the lectures and office hours.
- Please email me or see me in my office if there is any question about the class. In particular, if there is any problem of getting the textbook in time, please let me know.
