Announcements

• March 10th - Today in class Dylan covered knot factorization, unique factorization, and different types of knots.


• March 3rd - Today in class Peter covered the third chapter of Cromwell's book, where some of the meatier mathematics behind knot theory is handled.


• February 25th - Today in class Eli and Will talked about the first two chapters of Cromwell's book. Pretty much stuff we've covered already, but with greater mathematical sophistication. Next time Peter and I (Dylan) will cover the third and fourth chapter of Cromwell.


• February 11th - Today in class Blerta and Mike covered chapter 6 on the Jones, Alexander, and HOMFLY polynomials. Next time we start on the Cromwell book.


• February 4th - Today in class Dylan and Rex covered chapter 5 of Adam's book concerning different types of knots along with braids and almost alternating knots. Next time, Blerta and Will are going to present chapter 6 on polynomials.


• January 28th - Today in class Eli, Pete, and Will covered chapters 3 and 4 of Adam's "The Knot Book". Next time, Rex and Dylan will be covering chapter 5 of Adam's book.


• January 14th - Today in class Blerta Shtylla and Mike Purcell covered, respectively, chapters 1 and 2 of Adam's "The Knot Book". Excellent lectures. Next time, which will be in two weeks, Will, Eli, and Peter will cover chapters 3 and 4 from the same book.


• January 8th - Today was our introductory meeting. Dylan handed out a "syllabus" that he made for the class, and then gave a quick talk about knot theory based on an article in Mathematics magazine.
