Conclusions and future research

$\bullet$ Our numerical experiments have demonstrated the possibility of control of the damage process: waiting links make it possible to increase the resistivity, increase the time of rupture, increase the absorbed energy, and decrease the level of concentration of damage.

$\bullet$ The damage can start in parts of the structure distant from the zone of impact. Development of damage is caused by excited waves and local instabilities.

$\bullet$ Results strongly depend on parameters of the structure and projectile.

$\bullet$ One may want to adjust parameters $\alpha$ and the ratio $L/\Delta$ in order to increase the absorbed energy and decrease the level of concentration of damage.
