Announcements:
(1/23) The first midterm exam is next week, 30th Jan, during the usual
class time.
(1/23) I erred on A.2 #32. The particular solution has to be
(A x cos2x + B x sin2x + C x^2 cos2x + D x^2 sin2x) because
cos2x and sin2x already show up in the homogeneous solutions.
See Example 8 (b) on page A.17.

(1/28) Today's review session, we mainly discussed 3 HW problems and
their ramifications: A.2 #32, A.5 #3, 1.1 #13.
Please note that you will need to be early for the midterm exam on Wednesday.
Be prepared for snow fall. Unless the univesity cancels the classes,
snow can't be an excuse of late arrival.

(2/4) We have a very good start in the first midterm exam. The
distribution is: 90100: 12, 8089: 11,
7079: 6, 6069: 7, 5059: 7, 4049: 5,
039: 2. Median: 78.
You can find the scanned solution here.
(2/4) Notes: Due to a popular request, I am posting the
scanned notes for Chapter 2 as an experiment.
In the past, posting the notes was often counterproductive as students
tend to skip the classes, thinking they have the "notes".
I reserve the right to discontinue this as I see fit.
Warning!
These notes are substantially
different from what is going on in the class and should be used only as
supplements to your own notes and the textbook.
Chapter 3
(containing errors corrected in class).

(2/5) Do you HW problems! The second midterm exam is only 2 weeks away.
Note: Due to disappointing attendance, I will not be posting the scanned notes.
Apologies to all, but I think this is the right thing to do.

(2/20) The MT2 solution scan.
(2/24) The second midterm exam is harder, but the result isn't too bad.

7079: 5, 6069: 7, 5059: 13, 4049: 7,
039: 9. Median: 55.

(3/18) The third midterm exam is set on Wednesday 27th March.

(3/27) The solution for MT3.

(3/31) The third midterm exam has a fantastic result,
with the median at 90!

7079: 3, 6069: 3, 5059: 2, 4049: 5,
039: 3.

(4/15) Midter exam is this Wednesday 17th April! Coverage: Sections 7.13.
scanned notes for Chapter 7.

(4/16) There will be an earthquake drill on Wednesday 17 April 10:1511:00.
Our class will NOT participate in the drill (at my discretion).
The exam will start at the scheduled time (10:40) promptly.
I can not accept late arrival due to earthquake drill.
