Exam 1 practice problems and solutions. This is not a comprehensive list of every problem you could be asked. It is simply a way of letting you know what parts of the exam 1 material you should review. Going over your homework problems is a better way to prepare.

Errata:
- On problem 2, r0 should be 4i + 6k, not 4i + 6j.
- On problem 3b, there is a negative sign missing from the computation of the i component of T'. That is, it should be (1-t4), not (t4-1).
- On problem 10, the points are (0,0) and (1/3, 1/3); the first is a saddle, while the second is a minimum.
- On problem 17a, the bounds for the integral on r should be [0,1/sqrt(2)], not [0,1]. This is a critical error! Make sure you understand why this is the correct answer.
All homework problems are from the book, unless otherwise specified. I recommend you spend as much time as necessary to get them right. Practice is the only way to learn math.
Also, be warned that though the assignments are given on Mondays, they will sometimes include material to be covered the following Wednesday or Friday. Don't get discouraged if you can't finish the last few problems initially.
