Daniel Smolkin

I am a fourth year graduate student at the University of Utah.

I am studying the world of varieties in characteristic p under the guidance of Karl Schwede. My research focuses on test ideals, as well as the problem of discreteness and rationality of F-jumping numbers. I also do work in algebraic statistics, specifically on the maximum likelihood degree of toric models.
