Field Trips

Field trip signups are now closed.



Described below are the exciting, uniquely Utah field trips for participants of the conference (and family members). All trips are planned for the afternoon of Tuesday, July 18th. No other conference activities are planned for this time, so no guilt is necessary to attend. The excursions will be led by a local host and transportation will be arranged. All field trips (except Park City) come with a TRAX pass for public transit.

Sign up on the form to the right, specifying how many tickets are desired. Note that because of the scheduling, participants should only sign up for one field trip.

Mount Timpanogos Cave

The spectacular rock formations of Timpanogos Cave, bathed in the coolness of 50 degree (Fahrenheit, aka 10 degree Celsius) temperatures, await after a somewhat steep and hot 1.5 mile climb. After the hike, our bus will bring you to back to housing to recoup, and then public transit passes will be available to head to to vibrant downtown Salt Lake City for dinner and whatever evening entertainment you are up for.

Park City

Is it a park? A city? The legendary home of mountain fun is both! Visit the unique shops and museums, ride the lift or try the alpine slide, and then choose one of the great restaurants for dinner. We'll get you back to the conference center in whatever state you are in.

Albion Basin

The name Albion Basin conjures up visions of mountain views and world class wildflowers, and rightly so. Join this high-altitude hike (starting at about 9500 feet or over 3000 meters) of about 4 miles (more or less depending on when you turn back). Sunscreen recommended. After the hike, our bus will bring you to housing to recoup, and then public transit passes will be available to head to to vibrant vibrant downtown Salt Lake City for dinner and whatever evening entertainment you are up for.

Natural History Museum of Utah

Tucked into the foothills just above the University of Utah campus, this beautiful museum hosts dinosaurs, Native American artifacts, and a cool show about the Vikings. Spend an afternoon here, and we'll take you back to the meeting area to start your free evening on the town, a TRAX pass provided.

Red Butte Garden

Abutting the foothills above the University of Utah campus, these gardens have 18 acres of display gardens and over 5 miles of hiking trails, and a watercolor exhibit by artist Jeanne Hansen. Spend an afternoon here, and we'll take you back to the meeting area to start your free evening on the town, with a TRAX pass provided.

Temple Square

Historic Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City is home to the legendary Tabernacle, Family History Library, along with museums and urban shopping at the City Creek Center. After soaking up the history, enjoy an evening in downtown Salt Lake City, with a TRAX pass provided to return home.
