Math 1060: Trigonometry

The course description:
Math 1060 is one of two prerequisite courses for Calculus. The other is Math 1050, College Algebra.
In this course you learn about Trigonometric functions, inverse functions, equations and identities containing trigonometric functions.
You will also see some applications of these function. Finally there will be an introduction to vectors.

Texts:
Larson/Hostetler, PRECALCULUS, 7th edition
The course covers chapters 4,5,6, and 10.7-10.9
e-chapters (4,5,6) $18.00 each (Since we only do a few sections in Chapter 10, do not purchase.)

Homeworks:
Homeworks are weekly assigned through Webwork.
You will receive your personal ID and password to log into your Webwork.

Practice exercises:
Some problems from the text book will be suggested as a practice for preparing you for the exams.
I will not collect the the practice exersices

Quizzes:
There will be a 20 minutes quiz on Friday 12:20-12:40. Each quiz is either one or two questions.

Exams, Grading Policy:
There will be two midterms in class each worth 20% of the total grade.There will be one final worth 40% of the total grade.
Homeworks and in class quizzes each account for 10%. The dates for the midterms and the final are

Midterm 1. September 28 (in class)
Midterm 2. November 9 (in class)
Final. Wednesday, December 12, 2012 10:30 am - 12:30 pm (in class)

Make up exams will NOT be given unless there is sufficient reason. If an emergency arises, I will require sufficient proof.
If there is any other reason for which you might not be able to make it to the exam, please talk to me at least 2 weeks in advance.

The following grades are guaranteed: 90+ for A, 75+ for B, 65+ for C, 55+ for D. The cutoffs might decrease by the end of the semester but they will not increase.
