Abstract
This is a HOWTO written in DocBook (XML) for the reasoning behind the creation of the Bio::SearchIO system, how to use it, and how one goes about writing new adaptors to different output formats. We will also describe how the Bio::SearchIO::Writer modules work for outputting various formats from Bio::Search objects.
