Understanding Mathematics by Peter Alfeld, Department of Mathematics, University of Utah

Do you feel that math courses are just hurdles one has to cross as an undergraduate student? that mathematics is irrelevant?

Here you are sadly mistaken. Expertise in mathematics, and the ability to "think mathematically" is becoming ever more important in all parts of society. But don't take my word for it. Whenever you talk with someone knowledgeable about the kind of work you anticipate doing, ask how important mathematics is, and make your own judgment. Chances are that you are going to find that you will stunt your growth and limit your prospects if you try to bypass mathematics.
