Fred Adler's Lab

My current research focuses on two questions: 1. How do viruses persist in wildly fluctuating populations? To attempt to make some progress at answering this question I am using age-structured epidemiological models to study Sin Nombre Hantavirus infections in deer mice.

2. How is this thing (Sin Nombre Hantavirus) transmitted? To address this, I have been working with Pat Ely (Dearing Lab) using PIT tags and infrared cameras with software developed by Tim Brown (TimeScience and previously in the Adler Lab) to document interactions between mice to look for factors promoting virus transmission.
