Description: This is the first course in statistical inference.
We will go over the main ideas
and concepts from Chapters 8 to 11.
Text: Introduction to Probability and Mathematical
Statistics 2nd Edition by Bain & Engelhart
Grading:
There will be three midterms. Each exam is worth 25 percent. The
cummulative final will be worth 25 percent as well. The midterms will
be not be cummulative. The grading curve will be as follows.

Exams and
homework: The exams will be based on the homework problems which
will be posted on a weekly basis. They won't be graded but you
are advised to attempt all of them. The homework will be posted
online every week.
Exam Dates:
First midterm on February 24. Second midterm on April 2.
THIRD MIDTERM on April 21.
Tutoring:
Free mathematics tutoring is offered by the department. The tutoring
center is located at the T. B Rushing Undergraduate center in the
basement of LCB.

2) All the problems from Chapter 6 to Chapter 10, that were both
assigned and solved in class will be important.
3) The final exam will consist of five questions.
