and Their Representations

The second 1999/2000 workshop in the program Lie Groups, Lie Algebras and Their Representations will take place at the University of Utah on November 13 and 14.

These workshops meet at various University of California campuses (or occasionally at other universities in the western United States) for one weekend every few months during the academic year. The purpose of the program is to communicate results and ideas rather than to deliver polished presentations. The program also serves to acquaint graduate students in this area with a range of researchers in Lie theory and representation theory.

Program:

Saturday, November 13:

9:30 AM       Jeff Adler (University of Akron)
Supercuspidal characters and coadjoint orbits
11:00 AM       Dan Barbasch (Cornell University)
Regular functions on nilpotent orbits
2:00 PM      Wilfried Schmid (Harvard University)
Automorphic distributions
3:15 PM       Chris Jantzen (Ohio State University)
Discrete series for classical p-adic groups
4:30 PM       Constantin Teleman (University of Texas, Austin)
Quantization of the Hitchin system

Sunday, November 14:

9:30 AM       William McGovern (University of Washington)
Orbital varieties in classical Lie algebras
11:00 AM       Ivan Mirkovic (University of Massachusetts, Amherst)
Group theoretic structures encoded in the loop Grassmannian

The talks will take place in Room 102, James Fletcher Building (South Physics), located approximately at 100 South and 1400 East (see the map).
