The goal of this course is to familiarize students with basic notions and results from linear algebra. We shall cover most of the first seven chapters of the textbook. Time permitting, we are going to discuss some applications from Chapter 8.
The first chapter reviews the basic notions related to vectors and matrices.
The second chapter discusses solving linear equations.
The third chapter introduces the notions of vector spaces, vector subspaces, linear independence bases and dimension.
The fourth chapter discusses orthogonality.
The fifth chapter discusses determinants and their geometric interpretation.
The sixth chapter discusses eigenvalues and eigenvectors of linear transformations. Also, it includes the study of symmetric and positive definite matrices.
Finally, the seventh chapter discusses the notion of linear transformation.
