I will post a more detailed schedule of topics covered and problems assigned when classes begin.

Class meets in JFB B-1 MWF 940 - 1030 AM. Do not be late and do not leave early. Turn off your cellphone.

We meet three times a week. Most of Friday's class will be devoted to problem solving. Student participation is mandatory, and you may be called upon to work problems on the board.

Homework: Homework is assigned every class, and always due on Friday. I will do one of the following at the beginning of class each Friday: collect the homework and grade some or all of it, give a short quiz which contains some (1-3) of the homework problems, or call upon students to discuss the homework. This will account for 15% of your grade. I will drop one of these quizes/homeworks.

Class attendence is mandatory. If you cannot make a class for a legitimate reason, please notify me. Note that a conflict with job obligations is not a legitimate reason. (I am aware of the difficulties of financing your education. But if you are working instead of coming to class, this compromises the whole point of going to school in the first place. ) We are both here for serious (although not joyless!) business; don't squader your educational opportunities by missing class and/or not doing assignments. What we are doing here matters.

Midterms: There will be three midterms. The first midterm will be come soon in the semester. These three midterms compose 60% of your grade. If you can do the homework problems, you will be well-prepared for the midterms. Make sure you know how to do all the assigned homework problems.

Final. There is a final worth 25% of your grade. The final is on Thursday, December 16, 2004 8:00 - 10:00 am. Except in the case of DEATH, SEVERE illness, or military service, this is the ONLY time the final will be offered, and there will be no makeups.

Study. If you are signed up for the course, put in the work. Don't let yourself get behind, and always keep up with the daily assignments. See me AT THE EARLIEST time when you are having difficulties.

ADA. The Americans with Disabilities Act requires that reasonable accomodation be provided for students with physical, sensory, cognitive, systemic, learning, and psychiatric disabilities. If you are seeking accomadations under the ADA, the instructor must be consulted at the BEGINNING of the term.
