Abstract:

The effect of gap junctional distribution within the cellular interface is shown to have a substantial effect on the effective diffusion coeffient and consequently on the ``sawtooth'' distribution in the intracellular domain. The relationship between these and the defibrillation threshold for cardiac tissue is discussed.
