Math 1090



    Syllabus


    Final exam policy/format:

(1) a scientific calculator is allowed (no graphing or programming calculators.  If you have a graphing calculator this means you'll have to buy a scientific calculator) .
(2) one 8.5x11 inch sheet of paper with formulas written on it (but NO problems or examples can be worked out on your formula sheet.  You are only allowed to write formulas on this sheet).   This formula sheet must be HAND WRITTEN.
This format will be strictly enforced.  Before your final exam I will check both your calculator and formula sheet.

    ·  Practice exam 1
   If you don't want to work in a group for extra credit you may instead do the practice exam and submit solutions to the even problems to the chapter one test and chapter 2 test pages 199-200 and 135-136, but I would encourage you to work in a group. 


    ·  Practice exam 2   You may turn this in a group or work alone for 5 points extra credit.  This is DUE AT THE START OF CLASS on 4/2/08.



    ·  Final Review handed out in class.  If you are yet to revieve one please stop by my office.  I will also bring a few to class on the quiz 6 (4/16/08).  Also be sure to see the final exam policy.

  ·  Extra credit for exam 1 and 2 worth 5 points extra credit on your exam.  In a group of 3-5 people you will on your own work through the practice exam, turn in each of your individual solutions as well as a solution set which you will all work on with all your names on it, and meet with me to discuss any questions (note it is required to meet with me if you want full points).  If you cannot meet with a group then I would suggest that you come to talk with me about the situation at least 3-4 days before the due date so that we can try to resolve it if possible.  These assignments are due by 2/20/08 and 4/2/08 respectively.
