Here you will find information concerning the Quantitative
Analysis (1100-2) class for the Spring 2002 Semester, which
meets on M,W,F 9:40-10:30 am in AEB 350.
If you have any doubts, problems, concerns, etc., feel free to send

- 5/1: Test 4 was given.
- 4/29: Covered section 14.4. A review session for the
final exam was arranged for this Friday. More details later.
- 4/26: Covered section 14.2 on partial derivatives.
- 4/24: Covered section 14.1 on functions of several
variables.
- 4/22: Covered section 13.7 on improper integrals.
- 4/19: Covered section 13.6 on integration by parts. Also,
homework 10 was announced and is due on Monday
22.
- 4/17: Covered section 13.5 on using tables of
integrals. Check here for a simple
table of integrals.
- 4/15: Covered the first half of section 13.4 on
continuous flows of income.
- 4/12: Section 13.3 on areas between curves was
covered.
- 4/10: Test 3 was given.
- 4/8: Finished section 13.2.
- 4/5: Covered section 13.1 and part of 13.2. Homework 9 is due on Monday.
- 4/3: Reviewed part of 12.5 and introduced some summation
formulas needed for 13.1.
- 4/1: Covered section 12.5 on differential equations.
- 3/29: Completed sections 12.3 and 12.4. Homework 8 is due on Monday. Also, Tests 3 and 4
were announced for (4/10 and 5/1 respectively).
- 3/27: Completed section 12.2 and still working on
12.3.
- 3/25: Started sections 12.2 and 12.3.
- 3/22: Covered section 12.1.
- 3/20: Test 2 was given.
- 3/18: Reviewed some material from chapter 10.
- 3/15: Covered section 10.5. Also, Test 2 was postponed
till Wednesday 3/20, and a review class was scheduled for Tuesday
(see above for more details).Homework 7 is due on
Monday.
- 3/13: Covered section 10.4.
- 3/11: Covered section 10.3.
- 3/8: Completed sections 10.1 and 10.2 on local extrema
and convexity of functions.
- 3/6: Covered most of section 10.1 on relative maxima and
minima.
- 3/4: Covered section 11.4 on related rates. Test 2 was
announced for Monday 3/18 (in class).
- 3/1: Covered section 11.3 on implicit functions. Homework 5 is due on Monday.
- 2/27: Classes restart after Olympic break. Covered
Sections 11.1 and 11.2 on derivatives of logarithmic and exponential
functions.
- 2/1: Test 1 was given.
- 1/30: Introduced higher order derivatives (section 9.8)
and solved additional examples of computation of derivatives. Also,
, Homework 4 was assigned and is due on Friday
2/1.
- 1/28: Discussed different examples of combined
application of the different rules of derivation (section 9.7).
- 1/25: Discussed the product and chain rule (sections 9.5
and 9.6). Also, Homework 3 was assigned and is
due on Monday. Last, we scheduled a review class for Thursday 1/31,
5:00--6:30 PM, in AEB 340.
- 1/23: Discussed properties of derivatives, roughly
covering sections 9.4 and 9.5. Also, Test 1 was announced for Friday
2/1.
- 1/18: Discussed the relation between derivatives and
tangent lines, finishing section 9.3. Also, Homework
2 was assigned and is due on Wednesday.
- 1/16: Started discussion of derivatives, section 9.3.
- 1/14: Finished section 9.2 on continuity and limits at
infinity.
- 1/11: Started Section 9.2 on limits at infinity and
continuous functions. Also, Homework 1 was
assigned and is due on Monday.
- 1/9: Concluded section 9.1.
- 1/7: Started the discussion of limits (Section 9.1).
- 1/4: After a short introduction and comments about the
course (see the syllabus) we reviewed several
types of functions.

explanation receive no credit.
