The first exam is on Friday, February 1. The exam covers Chapter 7 and Section 8.1 from the text. The best guide to the types of questions to expect is the homework (both from the COW and from the text). A summary/review guide was distributed in class and is available in my office. A formula sheet will be provided. It will include the following: Theorem B, p. 355 (Derivatives of inverse trig functions) The definitions of sinhx and coshx (from this can find derivatives for these and the other hyperbolic functions) #13-17 of the Integral Forms on p. 372 Note then that the formula sheet will NOT include: Integral Forms #1-12 on p.372 (most of these known from Calculus I and from previous sections) Derivatives of ln x, e^x and a^x and the corresponding integral formulas A description of the method of integrating factors A formula for the solution of dy/dt = ky (exponential growth or decay), so you should either remember that the solution has the form y = C e^(kt) or know how to solve the differential equation by separation of variables.
