It is very difficult to grade the homework uniformly when different people do different problems.
IN CASE there are any confusions regarding what problem is to be done, you can ask/mail me.

CASE STUDY QUESTION
INSTRUCTIONS :
1.Solve this case to answer the questions asked in the end. I have provided hints to give an idea. You can use your own approximations.
2. PLEASE STATE YOUR ASSUMPTIONS CLEARLY AND COMPLETELY so that I can make sense out of your solution.
3. Make simple assumptions, do not try to make it complicated.
4. You can work in pairs and submit one common answer sheet for two people. Clearly state the name of both students on the answer sheet.

CASE : A major magazine publisher is considering publishing a Sunday supplement for insertion in and distribution through metropolitan newspapers in Salt Lake City. Analyse the reasons for the cost that will in incurred while doing this. Also come up with possible ways by which revenue is being generated.

1. If an advertisement company whose advertisement the publisher prints, pays on an average 50 dollars per square inch of area on the supplement, then approximate how much revenue the publisher is earning on each supplement. (Hint approximate the area of one page, number of pages devoted to printing addvertisement. You can approximate in another way if you want)

2. Approximate the number of supplements produced in a year. (Hint - How many newspaper com- panies will they tie up with to distribute. How many newspapers are circulated on a Sunday, so in one year how many supplements are printed)

3. Now check if according to your approximations, the publisher is earning profit or not. If yes, how much. If no, how much should he charge the advertisement company to earn profit.
