DETAILS EXAM I
There will be three systems of three equations. One will have a unique solution, one no solution and one with infinite solutions. You may be required to solve one of the systems via a specific method, eg, using inverse matrices.
One word problem from section 1.7, you will only have to set the problem up and not solve it – that is, you will need to identify constraints and the objective function.
Given a graph of a region with values of the objective function on corners, be able to know when or not linear programming can be applied to the problem and then find the point at which the objective function takes on its max or min.
One linear programming problem. You will be given constraints and objective function and you will have to solve for where the max/min happens.
Two word problems that you will need to set up but not solve. These will be from section 1.4 and 1.5.
A problem on being able to use equation of a line in various forms
Two problems on linear inequalities – one word problem and one where you will be given the inequality.
Matrix operations – exactly like take home quiz 4 but easier.
Be able to solve a system using inverse matrix.
Be able to compute the inverse of a 2x2 and a 3x3 matrix.
Section 2.5 will not be on the test.
You will be allowed to start five minutes early if you want.
By the way the numbers will be rigged to be nice, still you should be able to work with simple fractions like one half and one fourth, or simple decimals.
