FRONTIER PROBABILITY DAYS http://www.math.utah.edu/~firas/FPD University of Utah March 15-17, 2009 "Frontier Probability Days 2009" (FPD'09) is a regional workshop, taking place in Salt Lake City UT on March 15-17, 2009. Its purpose is to bring together mathematicians, both regionally and globally, who have an interest in probability and its applications. This will complement other regional conferences that are held annually elsewhere in the US. Plenary Speakers: * Peter Baxendale (University of Southern California) * Michael Cranston (University of California, Irvine) * Steven N. Evans (University of California, Berkeley) * Gregory F. Lawler (University of Chicago) * Charles M. Newman (Courant Institute, New York University) * Rinaldo Schinazi (University of Colorado, Colorado Springs) * Timo Seppalainen (University of Wisconsin, Madison) Registration is required but is free. Deadline for registration is February 27, 2009. Financial support may be available from a grant from the National Science Foundation. Deadline for financial support applications is December 31, 2008. Graduate students are especially encouraged to apply. The proceedings will kick off Sunday morning with the opening lecture by Greg Lawler and will end on Tuesday afternoon with the closing lecture by Charles Newman. Also, note the Math Department's Probability Seminar the Friday before will be given by Sunder Sethuraman (Iowa State University); some participants might wish to arrive early for this event.
