Abstract

Let X be a random variable with moment generating function M(t) and define c=min{s>0} (1/s)log{ R M(t) } where R is a given constant. Assuming that we have some observations for X we discuss the estimation of c. We show that the estimator is asymptotically normal and discuss resampling methods for obtaining confidence intervals for c.
