Mathematical Modeling of Biological Systems
- (Summer 2003) ~ worked at Keck Graduate Institute on Resonance in Bistable Switches. This is not a formal paper, it is more like a research journal.
- (Summer 2003) ~ simulated tumor growth in Matlab. Here is the paper from this project. I wrote the sections on model forulation, simulations, and the equilibria analysis. I did this work with a group of HMC undergrads under the supervision of Lisette dePillis and Weiqing Gu.
- (Summer 06-Spring 07) studied the critical mass, shape, and physical characteristics of the sinoatrial node in the heart with Dr. Keener.
- (Spring 2006) Bone cell dynamics. Normal bone tissue gets degraded and remodeled all the time (handout). However, when an astronaut goes out into space, bone cells fail to get the proper amount of mechanical stimulus (due to micro-gravity conditions) and start to degrade at a much higher rate than they get remodeled.
