Biological Lab Work
- During the summer of 2005 I studied hERG potassium ion channels at CVRTI on the University of Utah campus. I recorded the ion currents through the membrane of oocytes under various voltage steps. I basically just poked frog eggs with electrodes until they died. The main thing I learned during this lab rotation is that biologists have very good hand-eye coordination.

- I spent a couple months of my summer of 2007 in Chicago working at the Illinois Institute of Technology. I worked under the supervision of Dr. Connie Hall and had the help of one of her grad students, Daniel Crandall. When I wasn't trying to avoid getting bleach on my clothing I measured platelet adhesion and aggregation in vitro under different shear flow conditions. I actually got to do experiments on my own blood, which was pretty awesome. Here is
Dr. Hall's wedpage.
