Roster of NPCs

Hua Jiang, former Tanist of Chiare

She grins like the dawn, as a chill dawn breeze ruffles her hair. I had forgotten how much I'd missed running the foothill trail with her to greet the rising sun...

Hua Jiang was a friend of Sunfall's who became convinced that Sunfall was somehow a demon in disguise. She tried numerous times to kill Sunfall in "accidents", until she finally accused Sunfall openly at Sunfall's runewalk. Af ter having been proved wrong, she is being held in a cell pending further investigation of her strange behavior.

The Karcist Almirant of Chiare, Keeper of the Sorceror's Citadel

An old man sits on a dais high above. At his gesture, the man with the chime strikes it and intones "Who approaches the Almirant Karcist?"

The Karcist Almirant is the head of the Sorceror's Citadel and holds the keys of the guardianship of Chiare against demonic attack. His wisdom, as well as that of his predecessors, has led Chiare from the dark years of the Demon Wars into a golden age of harmony and prosperity. That golden age now seems to be waning as the threat that destroyed Begma threatens all of the nine Broken Patterns.

Raiguyen

As I opened the door, I heard a voice from within call out "Come in, child. The voice sounded old but strong and deep, as if defiant of the frailty of old age.

Raiguyen was a celeberated general in his youth, but at some point chose to leave the life of the warrior and become a Karcist of Chiare. Somehow forseeing his own death, Raiguyen passed the Shards prophecy on to Sunfall. Raiguyen was killed by a demonic thing that the Tanist Hua Jiang had summoned to kill Sunfall.

Reed, Scientist of Shadow

"I'd like to request an opportunity to make some measurements of your Wheel of Runes. It will help in my investigation of the tragedies that are befalling the other Broken Patterns". Sunfall turns to Reed. "I'm not sure that's a good idea. The last person who came asking questions was imprisoned, then somehow managed to vanish from her cell."

Reed is a scientist who was introduced to the group by Sean of Briarwood and has been tagging along. He made a request to take measurements of the Circle of Runes which was granted (much to Sunfall's surprise).
Reed is tall man in his early thirties. His hair is blonde, wavy and close. His eyes are blue, and serious. His clothes are green of stra cut. Some of you will recognize them as being machine manufactured. a large variety of items secured about himself, one at least is recognizeable as a handgun of some sort. The rest are mysterious.

Sean of Briarwood

Standing over six feet tall, with dirty blonde hair and green eyes, Sean is a cheerful figure. His chest is mostly uncovered and revealing a scar in the shape of a Celtic knotwork circle of briars, no doubt painful to have carved into him. His simple vest, open, is made of leathers of some animal, tanned brown. He wears like leather pants, but, they are dark blue. His boots are black, of the same leather again. At his side there is almost always a healthy looking, if a bit ugly, Irish Wolfhound.

Allyna, Image artist of Ebeer

About 4' 10", you almost look past this woman on first glance. But your gaze returns as you note that she is as easily as thin as she is short. She keeps her dark eyes always roving, not so much to see everything as to not linger too long on any one thing. Her dark hair is cut in short tresses, sheerly practical with little regard to style. You note her clothing, all of a charcoal gray, is of a similar styling, practical and maybe a bit worn. For a moment, your gaze starts to wander when you notice her left hand. Thin and small, it's not so much the type of hand as the almost flash of green on its back. As you gaze more closely, you spot a few other boughs of a tree apparently part of an extended tattoo peeking out from under the edges of her clothes. A satchel is slung over her shoulder, and a narrow oaken wand is tucked into her belt.

Andra, Member of the Royal House of Thule, Ally of Vance

"You may have survived the watery flame, and taken wives here, but you are not of us Vance, and you do not know us as well as you think you do."

Andromeda is a young attractive woman. Her hair is dark as are her eyes. She has a direct gaze, a strong smile, and a gentle voice. She wears a simple peplos of white linen that clings to her ample curves. Around this dress she has wrapped a mantle of red, white, and black trimmed in electric blue.

Aranor, Companion of Rex

He's an old fellow, with long white hair and beard, the hair pulled back from his forehead by a leather thong, and in a long ponytail. He is garbed all in black leathers and chains, and wears dark-lensed spectacles.

Ariadne, Daughter of Vance

Vance turns to Ariadne. "Now is your choice. I cannot offer your birthright until the crisis is past...unless you come with me now." Ariadne says, "You are blessed by Clieto. I am ashamed for ever doubting you. I will come."

She stands slighty over five feet in height, with an atheletic build. Her auburn eyes match the color of her waist-length hair. Ariadne is dressed a simple white tunic wrapped in a mantle of black trimmed in electric blue. She moves gracefully, but her sharp movements, energy, and challenging gaze show her to be quite young.

Engela, Companion to Rex

At first glance Engela seems but a child. She is short and thin of frame, but she has the figure and bearing of a woman. She has dark curly hair bound atop by a circlet of silver, and left to fall in wild locks all about her shoulders. Her eyes are warm and brown like a puppy. Engela's ears are pointed, revealing her faerie blood. She is dressed in a light travelling dress, that seems cut more for style than practicality.

Merope, wife of Vance

Merope has light brown hair, a staturesesque figure and striking eyes. Merope seems quiet and reserved and her hands bear the inkstains of one who is often writing. She speaks with a calm authority. She is wearing a saffron colored peplos, a simple linen dress belted at the waist and buttoned at the shoulders. She has wrapped her dress in a black mantle with a electic blue trim.

Merope is the wife of Vance and a sorceress.

Middenriddle, Companion to Rex

Middenriddle is a stooped man, lean and wiry, dressed in dark finery which was once too large for him, but is now so tattered that all the slack has worn away. He carries a sword belted at his waist, and follows Rex like a puppy.

Pleione, Wife of Vance

A flash of fire touches Pleione's eyes but her rejoinder is soft, "Don't tarry to long." She sashays out of the room, leaving only Vance, the party, and some servants. Sean says, "Perhaps two women is too much of a good thing after all."

Pleione is slightly short with long dark hair to her waist and a little to the plump side but attractively so. Her most noticeable feature are her arms and hands, which are marked with purple and red discolorations, and her hands are held mostly closed in an odd position. She is wearing a saffron colored chiton, a simple tubular linen dress. Buttons of gold run from her shoulders down her arm, and the dress is belted at her waist. She has wrapped her dress in a black mantle with a electic blue trim.
Pleione is the wife of Vance and mother of Ariadne. She is a member of the Crystal Guild of Thule.

Menelius, High King of Thule

Thule is ruled by a council of ten kings, the greatest of them is the High King, Menelius.
His figure suits his office. He is a large and powerful man with raven dark hair just beginning to show streaks of gray. He has a powerful sense of presence and command about himself. He is dressed in a white tunic wrapped by a toga of golden cloth, trimmed in electric blue.
