Contributions

So you want to get more points? Here's how contributions will work in Shards. Contributions are optional. Each player may take one, two or no contributions. You may take the standard contribution in which case you get +10 points for one contribution and +20 points for two contributions. ALSO when it is advancement time, people with one contribution receive +10% on their points, and people with two contributions receive +20% on their points. This bonus rewards players whose contributions are timely and of good quality. OR You can take your contribution as an item. In which case you will get an item built on much more than 10 points. How much is a secret kept by the GM. Your item is not static, but will slowly grow in power as you gain advancement points. However, should you slack off in your contributions, the item will begin to twist against you, and be less than useful. Should you stop contributing altogether the item is lost or destroyed. Hint - this is a cheap way to get something like Frakir, Mandor's spheres, or Morgenstern. You can describe the basic form of your item and abilities (example - strangling cord, sphere, horse). Another possibility is to spend two contributions and buy one big item on the order of Ghostwheel or a spikard. If you are interested you should discuss it in detail with the GM. Be forewarned it comes with hooks and snares a plenty.

The possible contributions are:

Character Diary - A simple text file dump of everything that happened to your character during a game session is NOT a character diary. A character diary also has details about your character's hopes, feelings, dreams, and ambitions. I love character diaries.

Game Log (maximum one) - One player will be allowed to create a game log - a simple collection of everything that happened to the group as a whole. The game log should be edited to remove not relevant OOC talk.

Shards Fiction/Nonfiction - Either stories or non-fictional writeups set in the Shards universe. Information contained therein becomes the property of the GM and can be used or made public. If you have a new Court, then this is a good way to flesh it out slowly over time.

Web Page Maintainer - Someone to take all these text files, and turn it into a web site, and to keep it maintained. This will probably be high time committment initially, but will trail off once the game starts.

Artwork - Art is an acceptable contribution, but must be deliverable in gif or jpeg format. Due to prior experience, I now require a sample of artwork before allowing this contribution.

GM/asst GM/provider of the site - Since someone is being kind enough to give me space, it is only fair to acknowledge that is indeed a contribution to the game. I would do the same if we always met at the same person's house in a face to face game.

Cash - $100 a game session... just kidding :-)

Other - I will listen to other suggested contributions. Please be prepared to provide a sample.
