Between the Pattern of Amber and the Logrus of Chaos are the lesser powers: broken patterns, the raveled logrii, representations, designs, and wells. Amber defeated Chaos in the Patternfall War, yet both sides are preparing fo
r another battle. When titans roam the schoolyard, what hope do those who cling to the Shards have for survival?
Unlike most Amber diceless games where the focus is on Amber with an
occasional visit to the Courts of Chaos, Shards focuses on those who live
between the poles of reality. Players take on the roles of inhabitants
of shadow.
In addition to the obvious choice of broken pattern, players are allowed,
even encouraged to make up their own unique power that is a derivative of a
major power.
If you've ever felt the Elder Amberites are arrogant, remember you've had it
easy, you were probably playing an Amberite. In Shards, you won't be
playing a family member. Thought Benedict was scary to Corwin? In Shards
you start at Broken Pattern rank, somewhere below Amber Rank and above Human
Rank. Flora isn't someone to sneer at.
In Shards you may not have the power to destroy worlds, but you are not
minor figures. You are still persons of considerable influence, and it is
to you that the task will fall to save what can be saved or not even shards
will be left.
There may or may not be room for additional players. For more information, please contact Tim Wilbanks.
