Absinthe of Mallet, The Sheepshead, Cochise West

In May 2005, Ben, Erin, and I went down to Tucson to visit my folks. While we were there, we did a lot of good climbing including Absinthe of Mallet on the Sheepshead in West Cochise Stronghold. Here is a photo of the Sheepshead, a 1000' chunk of granite.

Up at the top of the climb is a nice chimney pitch. Here I am following Ben up this chimney.

Up on top, we could see all the way to Mexico. Here, Erin and I enjoy the view.

The road down there behind us is Middlemarch Road. A dirt autobahn about four lanes wide that you drive almost 10 miles to get to Cochise West. It also continues up over the pass toward the East Stronghold. The small ranch roads were especially fun in my Sport Utility Accord.
