Announcements:

We will be using class notes for this class, developed by Dr. Joe Taylor. You can get the notes here. In addition, I will also provideyou with class notes that I have developed myself. These will be handed out in class.

Books I recommend:

Analysis with an Introduction to Proof, by Steven Lay: great book for Analysis I. Doesn't cover Multidimensional Analysis, but hasa great chapter on Logic and Proof. Also expensive; find it used or earlier edition. If you feel rusty on proof-writing, this book mighthelp.

Calculus on Manifolds, by Michael Spivak: one of the best math texts ever written! This book is a little bit advanced for thiscourse, and I only recommend it to those students who plan on taking a differential geometry course (if you plan on going to grad schoolin pure math, this means you). Small (less than half and inch thick), and relatively inexpensive (new: $44.00).
