An Introduction to Algebra (Fall 1999)These are some notes from a course in algebra primarily designed for future high-school teachers. My goal was to take the students through the familiar and a little ways into the unfamiliar while maintaining sufficient mathematical rigor to make me comfortable, but not so much as to scare the students. Judging from the teaching evaluations, I was successful at the latter. I intend to teach this course again (Spring 2001), and to tinker with these notes until I "get them right."
