Exams, homework, grading

Exams

The final exam will cover the entire semester. All exams are closed-book exams.

Homework

You will get weekly homework. You are encouraged to discuss homework problems with others and work on them in groups. There is no better way to learn mathematics than to discuss problems in groups! However, if you work on the problems in groups,

Quizzes
There will be bi-weekly quizzes, every 2nd Tuesday in class, starting at September, 5. So there will be 7 quizzes altogether. Your worst quiz won't count towards your credit; if you miss a quiz, you will get 0 points. After you have missed one quiz, you will get 0 points in your credits towards the final grade for every further quiz you miss.

Grading
You will obtain 6 grades: 4 exams, one for homework and one for the quizzes. Of these, the final exam will count double, every other grade single.
