Text: "Mathematical Applications for the management, Life, and Social Sciences" by Harshbarger/Reynolds, 7th Ed., Houghton Mifflin Company, Chapters 0-6.
Prerequisite: Math ACT score of 23 or grade of C or better in MATH 1010.
Attendance Policy: You are expected to come to class regularly and to participate actively. You are responsible for all the material covered in class, and for any announcement made.

Homework. Homework shall be assigned at the end of (almost) every class, and shall be due on Friday of the following week. You can find the homework assignments in the schedule page. We shall only grade randomly selected homework problems, usually out of 10 points each. The problems that we do not grade shall count 5 points each, and you receive the 5 points if you have at least a partial solution to the problem.
Practice Problems. Several practice problems shall be assigned at the end of every class. You can find the complete list in the schedule page. You do not need to turn this problems in for grading, but you are expected to solve all of them. You can find the answers to the practice problems in the back of the book.
WebWork. WebWork is a computer program by which students log onto the computer and work problems online. There is going to be one WebWork assignment for each section of the book we cover, and it shall be due 4 or 5 days after we finish covering the section in class. To log into webwork, go to http://webwork1.math.utah.edu/math1090spring2005-6/.
Tests. There shall be 3 tests, each worth 15% of your grade. Right now, they are scheduled as follows (but dates might change):
Final. The final exam is on Wednesday, May 4th, 3:30-5:30pm, in JTB 140.
Letter Grades. After the final, all of your grades shall be averaged together, and a letter grade shall be assigned (after adding the extra credit) as follows:
