www Links for Elementary School Teachers.
The TIMSS Report
With data on half a million students from 41 countries, the
Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) is the
largest, most comprehensive, and most rigorous international
study of schools and students ever. The study focused on eight
grade but of course what's going on there depends on what
happened in K-7. Similarly extensive studies of fourth and
12-th grades are in progress.

On-line K-6 Resources
There is a vast amount of information available on the
internet about teaching elementary school.
Below are some links related to K-6 teaching most of which I
found with
Alta Vista.
Some links are to my own pages. The selection of links is
quite eclectic, The list illustrates what's available and
the scope of activities that you can have your students do.
I emphasized
-
School Districts, particularly local ones, since
you'll be dealing with them,
-
Space, since it's fascinating,
-
Mathematics, since it's even more fascinating,
and this is a math class.
-
Women, since something happens to them between
elementary school and University. Girls are just as
interested and capable in mathematics and science as
boys, and yet women are underrepresented in the
University classes and in the professions. We need to
change this!
