Convexity of the G-closure and exact relations

We discuss the convexity properties of the G-closure (the set of all possible effective tensors) and how these properties allow us to use sums of energies and complementary energies to characterize G-closures in a similar way to the way that convex sets are characterized by their Legendre transforms. We will also show how these convexity properties lead to the theory of exact relations as developed by Grabovsky, Sage and myself.
