Math Placement Guide

Beginning math courses at the University of Utah are taken in sequence:

Where you begin in this sequence depends on your Accuplacer math score (which you can schedule at the Testing Center 801-581-8733), your AP math score, transfer (or concurrent enrollment) college math classes, and your chosen field of study. The math classes you may take beyond the courses listed here depend on your major and your interests. If you wish to challenge your placement score you may take the math placement exam again, after one week waiting period, at the Testing Center (801-581-8744, 498 Student Services Building).

Students may register for a lower level math course than indicated by their Accuplacer placement.

A grade of C or higher is required to progress. If a student enrolls in a course for which they have not earned at least a C in the prerequisite course, the course will be dropped from the student's schedule.
