The University of Utah is a state tax-supported, coeducational institution. Founded in 1850, it is the oldest state university west of the Missouri River. In recent years, the Graduate School has been awarding approximately 215 Ph.D. degrees per year. The University faculty consists of approximately 3100 members.
The Mathematics Department of the University of Utah now awards, on the average, about eight Ph.D. degrees per year. A total of 220 people have earned this degree since 1954. Most of them have positions in state and private universities, but some hold nonacademic positions.
The Graduate Bulletin records a list of the recipients of Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics from 1987 to present.
