HLPNUM

       LOGICAL FUNCTION  HLPNUM (NUMBER)
 C$    (Number)
 C$    Decode a number in  ANSWER(2..MAXLIN) in COMMON,  returning
 C$    it in the argument NUMBER,  with the function value set  to
 C$    .TRUE. on success, and .FALSE.  on failure.  In the  latter
 C$    case, NUMBER is set to 0.
