Guiding Clinical Development of New Medicines: Insights from Quantitative Systems Pharmacology
Abstract: The utility of mechanistic mathematical models, often called Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP), have grown over the last decade within the biopharmaceutical industry. Integrating preclinical and clinical data and known physiological mechanisms, the resulting models can be used to facilitate drug development from target evaluation to dose selection and clinical trial design. In this presentation, I will discuss several case-studies, including (1) red blood cell lifetime model for sickle cell disease, and (2) inflammatory bowel disease model for target combination evaluation.
