"Analysis of a Nonlocal, Semilinear Equation from Electrokinetics"

We will consider a nonlocal form of the Poisson-Boltzmann equation which describes the stationary charge configuration of an electrolyte. For vanishing dielectric constant, the speaker will demonstrate a as yet unknown instability of the equation and the physical relevance the instability in modeling practices. As time permits, we will also discuss the hydrodynamic system, existence of solutions and show some finite element simulations.
